The Commodity Supplier Assurance Engineer (CSAE) is the primary quality interface between Raytheon’s organization and the external supply base. The CSAE is responsible for ensuring suppliers meet requirements, resolve quality issues, provide performance feedback, and implement continuous improvement ideas. This role requires excellent communication skills, meeting facilitation, and the ability to create and sustain healthy supplier relationships. The CSAE is a key player as the liaison between the supply base and Raytheon’s internal functional groups for activities such as supplier source selection, business level management, risk mitigation, strategic planning, and development of key suppliers. The CSAE represents Raytheon professionally and supports Raytheon’s Vision, Values, Strategy and Goals in the supply base. This position entails assignment as a CASE in Pennsylvania (Pittsburg / Philadelphia / State College / Williamsport region) of the US and is remote. Visits to local supplier facilities in PA will be required and will require a home office be maintained. Candidates are expected to travel domestically once per week (25%), to include driving up to 300-mile radius with some flying as needed. Relocation assistance is not provided.

  • Develop process improvement strategies and risk mitigation activities to be utilized across supply base
  • Closely interface with external/internal customers and key partners to establishing effective relationships
  • Leverage quality assurance to influence, manage, and impact business multilevel decision-makers focusing on customer priorities and mission success requirements
  • Interpret purchase order quality notes and quality requirements to ensure subcontractor/supplier understanding
  • Flow down product requirements both internally and to sub-tier suppliers focused on compliance with quality requirements
  • Assess subcontractor/supplier quality capabilities, risks, and system performance issues using RCCA throughout the program life cycle
  • Work with other Quality functions and Cross Business Teams (CBTs), to affect rapid closure of issues utilizing analytical capabilities and communications skills
  • Support the First Article Verification and Source Inspection as well as supplier assessments, audits, and reviews.
  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Relevant experience is supplier quality, supplier engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing & quality systems and/or technical supplier management
  • Experience managing and leading suppliers with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methods (Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Fishbone, CORE, etc.)
  • Experience working process improvement initiatives
  • Experience in collecting, analyzing, and presenting data for decision making
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)
  • Experience in DoD product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and delivery
  • Strong technical engineer with excellent communication skills that exhibits presence and influence and self-managed technical contributor
  • Experience working within commercial and aerospace / defense regulations and standards - AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, AS9145
  • Experience with industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
  • Experience in collaborating with engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain
  • Experience with any of the following: Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), Printed Wire Board (PWB), Wire/Cable, Electrical Items and Assemblies.
