The Commodity Supplier Assurance Engineer acts as the primary quality liaison between Raytheon and its external supply base, ensuring consistent adherence to requirements and delivery of high-quality results. This role involves driving resolution of quality issues, providing performance feedback, and championing continuous improvement initiatives. Strong communication, meeting facilitation, and relationship-building skills are crucial for fostering effective partnerships with suppliers. The engineer will collaborate closely with internal teams on supplier source selection, risk mitigation, strategic planning, and supplier development. Representing Raytheon professionally, this role promotes the company’s Vision, Values, Strategy, and Goals within the supply base, significantly impacting key supplier relationships. This remote position requires maintaining a home office and regular visits to assigned supplier facilities, with a minimum of 25% domestic travel, including driving and air travel.

Requirements

  • A university degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience
  • Relevant experience is work in engineering, quality, or supplier management/auditing
  • Experience evaluating / auditing the technical health of our suppliers to stakeholders.
  • Experience managing suppliers using Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) methods such as 5 Why, Fishbone, etc.
  • Experience driving process improvements using Six Sigma, Lean, or other analytical tools, and presenting data to support decision-making.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) preferred
  • Current government secret clearance
  • Six Sigma, Lean and / or American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification (CQE, CQM/OE, CSQE, CQA, CRE, etc.)
  • Experience working within aerospace/defense standards such as AS9100, AS9102, ISO-9000, and AS9145.
  • Experience in Dept of War product and process oversight including requirements, build, integration, test and delivery
  • Experience with industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.)
  • Commodity experience related to RF & Microwave hybrid major assemblies and components, CCA’s, Filters, Waveguides, Amplifiers, Receivers, Transmitters, Transceivers, etc.
  • Strong technical engineer with excellent communication skills that exhibits presence and influence and self-managed technical contributor.
  • Experience collaborating with engineering, manufacturing operations, and supply chain teams

Responsibilities

  • Implement process improvements and risk mitigation strategies across the supply base.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers, key partners, and stakeholders.
  • Influence decision-making through quality assurance, aligning efforts with customer priorities and mission success.
  • Interpret and communicate purchase order technical & quality requirements to ensure supplier and subcontractor compliance.
  • Ensure product requirements are properly flowed down and adhered to by internal teams and sub-tier suppliers.
  • Assess suppliers throughout supplier engagements related to quality, capability, capacity, opportunity and risk.
  • Perform technical evaluations in support of cost and price analysis.
  • Manage supplier requests for product and process changes.
  • Communicate the technical health of our suppliers to stakeholders.
  • Identify and resolve supplier risks and systemic issues through root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement using Six Sigma, lean methodologies, and other analytical tools.
  • Collaborate across multiple functions and Cross Business Teams (CBTs) to ensure rapid issue resolution.
  • Oversee First Article Verification, Source Inspection, and supplier assessments, audits, and reviews.
  • Resolve supplier risks and ensure compliance with program objectives.
  • Travel 25%.
