About The Position

The Commodity Manager plays a key role in Unigen’s supply chain organization, responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies across key commodities within the EMS industry. This role will manage supplier relationships, drive cost savings, ensure supply continuity, and support operational excellence and business growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field (Finance, Mechanical, or Electronic Engineering preferred).
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in commodity management, sourcing, or procurement within an EMS or electronics manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing sourcing or procurement teams.
  • Strong negotiation, contract management, and supplier relationship skills.
  • Proven track record of cost savings and strategic sourcing execution.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience in global sourcing and supplier management.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities to achieve cost savings, improve service levels, and mitigate supply risk.
  • Analyze spend by commodity, supplier, and region to identify cost reduction opportunities and implement long-term sourcing initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships; negotiate pricing, terms, and agreements to secure best-in-class cost, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Establish and manage the Preferred Vendor List (PVL) and Approved Vendor List (AVL) to strengthen supplier alliances.
  • Mentor and support sourcing specialists and buyers in executing RFQs/RFIs, supplier negotiations, and PO management.
  • Partner with suppliers to resolve price, MOQ, lead time, and PPV variances; drive continuous improvements in cost, service, and quality.
  • Oversee shortage and MRP reports to ensure timely material availability and execution.
  • Manage supplier scorecards, quarterly reviews, and corrective action plans.
  • Implement and oversee Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) programs to improve lead times and stock availability.
  • Review and manage sourcing costs, lead times, safety stock levels, and excess/obsolete inventory.
  • Collaborate with logistics partners to optimize freight costs and ensure competitive shipping rates.
  • Support cross-functional teams (Engineering, Quality, Operations, Finance) to align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
