About The Position

The Commodity Manager leads and coordinates activities to support commodity management and supplier relations. This role involves negotiating contracts and ensuring material availability for plant operations, aiming to meet financial and customer satisfaction metrics.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree required.
Minimum of five years’ experience in commodity management or senior buyer role.
Proficient with MRP/ERP systems, Excel, and other Microsoft Office products.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Dependable, accurate, and detail-oriented.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
General knowledge of NAFTA and international shipping requirements.
Experience in raw material purchasing is needed.

Nice To Haves

Experience in a manufacturing environment is not required but preferred.
Ability to travel up to 30% of the time, including potential international travel.
High level of ownership and responsibility in this role.

Responsibilities

Establish and manage projects related to sourcing needs as directed by upper management.
Develop procedures to source a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner.
Prepare and assign tasks to team members, collaborating with all departments.
Analyze market and delivery conditions to assess present and future material availability and prepare market analysis reports.
Stay informed of economic, industrial, and other trends affecting markets, prices, and delivery conditions.
Recommend major purchases of materials based on anticipated price changes or unusual availability situations.
Participate and lead in contract negotiations and vendor selection.
Monitor vendor performance to ensure delivery, quality, and price commitments are maintained.
Arrange for the disposal of surplus materials.
Manage and evaluate supplier performance and act as a liaison between vendors and user departments when necessary.
Oversee inventory turns and cost savings projects.
