About The Position

The Commodity Manager for Leica Biosystems is responsible for coordinating and participating in meetings with suppliers and other Leica Biosystems sites, conducting tenders, and creating new contracts while supporting the overall strategy of the Global Strategic Sourcing organization. This position reports to the Sr. Director Global Sourcing and is part of the Global Sourcing team located in Richmond, Illinois and will be an on-site role. In this role, you will have the opportunity to identify opportunities and support the development of strategies to optimize procurement processes, such as cost reduction, cost avoidance, etc. while maintaining quality and Danaher sustainability standards. You will establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including crafting negotiating strategies and negotiating complex supply contracts. Additionally, you will evaluate and monitor supplier performance, including identifying potential suppliers, conducting tenders, assembling and analyzing market data, evaluating supply alternatives, and benchmarking to secure the best value for the company. You will also manage the contract lifecycle, ensuring contracts are properly executed, filed, and renewed or terminated as required, and display systems-level thinking, considering the potential application of work in procurement and in other disciplines outside of the department.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or Engineering.
  • Minimum of seven years of experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or category management.
  • Proven work experience as a procurement, sourcing, or commodity manager or similar role.
  • Proven negotiation skills and contract negotiation management skills.
  • Demonstrated analytics experience with the ability to drive actionable insights.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Procurement, Business Administration, or equivalent.
  • Supply chain or operations experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Medical Devices, or Healthcare industries.
  • Continuous improvement/Lean/DBS knowledge and demonstrated hands-on experience implementing lean tools at Gemba.
