About The Position

The Commodity Manager at BENTELER Steel/Tube is responsible for managing various commodities, including billet contracts, scrap, logistics, and auxiliary materials. This role involves strategic alignment with German Commodity Buyers and the VP of Procurement, overseeing supplier negotiations, and ensuring effective procurement processes. The position requires strong analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex data clearly to internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; advanced education preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a similar position.
• 2-5 years of experience in the manufacturing industry, preferably steel, tooling, or metal components.
• SAP and general computer knowledge required.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with proven analytical, problem identification, and resolution skills.
• Ability to work in a team-oriented atmosphere and establish effective working relationships.

• Experience in international procurement processes.
• Familiarity with supplier audits and evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Manage billet contract and procurement (approx. $250-300 Mio) and develop second suppliers.
• Oversee scrap commodity management (approx. $16 Mio).
• Handle logistics commodity management (approx. $23 Mio).
• Manage processors including quenching & tempering, threading, and couplings (approx. $8 Mio).
• Oversee auxiliaries commodity management (approx. $7 Mio).
• Define and align commodity strategies with German Commodity Buyers/Managers and VP Procurement.
• Execute measures based on commodity strategy and oversee implementation.
• Negotiate contracts and manage supplier development.
• Monitor KPIs for commodities and suppliers.
• Conduct regular supplier evaluations and organize evaluation meetings.
