In this role, you will develop and implement category plans, drive cost optimization, and lead supplier relationships to deliver maximum value for the organization. You’ll play a critical role in managing high-impact supply chain initiatives and influencing organizational and business unit objectives. We’re looking for candidates who: Have a proven track record in strategic sourcing, category management, and supplier relationship management for high-value categories. Demonstrate strong negotiation and analytical skills, with experience managing large spend transactions and influencing supplier outcomes. Possess expertise in cost analysis, process improvement, and driving supply chain efficiencies. Are skilled at collaborating across departments to align procurement strategies with broader business unit goals. Excel at building and managing relationships with key suppliers to optimize performance and mitigate risks. Have experience in implementing Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) frameworks to manage key suppliers. Bring a proactive, results-driven approach to solving complex procurement challenges and driving continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, Business, Engineering or other job-related discipline from an accredited college or university
  • Five (5) years materials or services procurement experience with significant exposure to strategic supply chain management issues.
  • In lieu of bachelor's degree, professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) plus nine (9) years of significant, closely related materials/services/supply chain experience.
  • Associate's degree in business or related discipline, professional certification (e.g., CPM, CPSM) plus seven (7) years of significant, closely related materials/services/supply chain experience.
  • Experience in conducting supplier negotiations.
  • Experience in reviewing and redlining contracts.
  • Experience in RFx processes
  • Request for proposal (RFP), request for information (RFI), request for quote (RFQ) and/or request for bid.

  • Education: MBA or master’s degree in a related discipline.
  • Certifications: Professional certifications such as CPM or CPSM.
  • Technical Proficiency: Working knowledge of procurement systems, supply chain techniques, and TCO analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute sourcing strategies that align with business objectives to optimize category spend.
  • Category Planning: Create comprehensive category plans to drive cost efficiencies, improve supplier performance, and meet strategic goals.
  • Supplier Management: Manage relationships with 3-4 key suppliers, focusing on Supplier Relationship Management (SRM), performance monitoring, and risk mitigation.
  • Cost Optimization: Analyze category spend (typically above $25M) to identify opportunities for savings, process improvements, and value creation.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead complex negotiations to secure favorable terms, mitigate risks, and drive supplier accountability.
  • Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance procurement efficiency and supply chain performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal stakeholders to align category strategies with organizational goals and project requirements.
  • Develops and implements supply chain strategies for a specific category or subcategory to achieve targeted supply chain results for cost management, supplier management including supplier diversity, and process improvements.
  • Influences the spending decisions of business stakeholders by providing recommendations supported by data driven insights, leveraging market intelligence, should cost modeling, various negotiation methods and total cost of ownership analysis, all within a continuous improvement framework.
  • Determines strategy and resources for supporting procurement requirements of complex major projects including planning, integration and execution of the entire project and compliance of agreements.
  • Drives category management methodology to achieve maximum lifecycle value from major spend categories.
  • Influences the development and implementation of processes to maximize value. Coordinates supply chain processes to achieve expected results.
  • Interfaces with internal customers, suppliers and supply chain staff (primarily buyers) to execute strategies and achieve expected results.
  • Manages supplier relationships, including setting and tracking performance indicators to anticipate and minimize performance issues.
  • Identifies root cause and develops solutions when significant issues arise.
  • Influences the selection, deployment and management of strategies, tools, processes and people to execute the company's annual portfolio of sourcing projects.
  • Contributes and participates on cross-functional teams to achieve savings targets while balancing other business requirements.
  • Supports projects of large capital, significant complexity, scope and reach.
  • Drives productivity improvement and process improvement efforts.
  • Supports new practices in supply chain management to achieve continuous improvement objectives.
