As a Commodity Manager in Electronics, your key responsibilities will revolve around overseeing the commercial performance of electrical suppliers to ensure optimal outcomes. You'll be tasked with developing and implementing a robust category strategy tailored specifically for the electronics sector. Identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies will be a significant part of your role. You'll conduct competitive sourcing processes to secure the best deals, while also scouting for new, capable suppliers and phasing out those not meeting performance standards. Supporting operations is crucial, as you'll ensure that suppliers consistently meet operational requirements. Additionally, you'll need to respond swiftly to urgent market disruptions and manage issues with underperforming suppliers. On a typical you will:

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or a related field
  • 5+ years of purchasing experience with global companies and managing international suppliers
  • In-depth knowledge of purchasing electronics and electromechanical products
  • Proven excellence in commercial negotiations and in crafting and implementing commodity strategies
  • Strong ability in data analysis and commercial risk assessment to support informed decision-making
  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at identifying risks/issues and driving effective solutions.
  • Take the initiative in managing potential risks and challenges
  • Deliver results through effective teamwork and collaboration
  • Highly self-driven and capable of working independently

Responsibilities

  • Ensure responsible suppliers meet Otis's required key metrics and take actions to improve performance if necessary
  • Continuously execute market benchmarks to source competitive suppliers for both existing and new business opportunities
  • Work with suppliers to manage and optimize their performance
  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional teams to identify, plan, and execute savings opportunities
  • Manage market risks and address disruptive supplier risks
  • Define the commodity strategy and align it with various departments for successful implementation
  • Monitor supply risks and implement strategies to mitigate them.
  • Provide support to operations and engineering teams as needed
  • Ability to travel up to 10% within North America and APAC
  • Willingness to accommodate flexible working hours to engage in activities across China and EMEA time zones
