About The Position

The Commodity Buyer at thyssenkrupp Bilstein of America Inc. is responsible for leading a cross-functional team to ensure timely sourcing and supply of goods and services within assigned commodity categories. The role focuses on developing and executing sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings while ensuring compliance with policies related to Compliance, Sustainability, and Risk Management. The Commodity Buyer will negotiate supply agreements, monitor supplier performance, and collaborate with various functions to optimize purchasing processes.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Buyer in an IATF16949 Tier I or II automotive company preferred.
  • Experience in international business and supplier sourcing preferred.
  • Experience buying engineered components preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of purchasing processes including supplier selection and negotiation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and large ERP systems (SAP MM preferred).
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience negotiating Terms & Conditions.
  • Strong business acumen and ability to develop effective supplier relationships.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional team to ensure on-time sourcing and supply of goods and services.
  • Develop, plan, and execute sourcing strategies to achieve cost savings.
  • Negotiate, create, and maintain supply agreements.
  • Conduct supply inquiries, requests for quotes, and price negotiations.
  • Search, identify, qualify, develop, and manage suppliers for optimal commercial conditions.
  • Monitor price and market development for relevant raw materials and commodities.
  • Support the development and implementation of purchasing strategies and best practices.
  • Monitor supplier performance and implement improvement measures as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Logistics, Quality, Production, and Engineering for cost-down activities.
  • Challenge and improve efficiency of purchasing processes.
  • Consolidate and document savings and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Ensure compliance with policies related to Compliance, Sustainability, and Risk Management.
