About The Position

The Commissioning & Startup Engineer position is crucial for providing technical support for new plants, retrofit projects, and turnarounds from development to startup across all projects in the Americas region. This role involves coordinating activities among engineers and operations teams stationed at various plants, ensuring that the necessary systems and measures are implemented to support the Region's Product Delivery requirements, technical and operations standards, quality processes, and maintenance of plant and equipment. As a member of the Regional team, the Commissioning & Startup Engineer will interact routinely with Product Delivery Engineering Functions, Operational Excellence, plant operations, and maintenance personnel. This interaction is essential for providing hands-on field-engineering and troubleshooting leadership support, as well as technical guidance to identify operational excellence gaps and ensure that the end design meets stakeholder expectations. The position also plays a vital role in developing operators during the commissioning and startup phases of projects, ensuring that all operational and technical resources are utilized effectively to support both new and existing operations. The incumbent will be responsible for ensuring the safety of all site personnel by utilizing the Air Products Basic Safety Practice program, which includes Safety Work Permits, LOTO, and Confined Space protocols. The role requires providing commissioning and startup support for various safety initiatives, completing Pre-Safety and Startup reviews, and ensuring compliance with Completions Tool deliverables. The engineer will also support operations organizations to effectively operate facilities such as Hydrogen (SMR/POx), ASU, HYCO, Gasification, Utilities, and Ammonia, ensuring customer satisfaction regarding safety, reliability, product quality, and compliance with contractual requirements. In addition, the engineer will lead the commissioning team in troubleshooting activities, support training for the Operations team, and ensure that all aspects of plant operations are maintained accurately. The role requires a strong commitment to operational excellence and customer satisfaction, driving initiatives for productivity, reliability, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the commissioning and startup phases. The engineer will also provide leadership in investigations and Root Cause Analysis to implement sustainable corrective actions and participate in technical reviews and optimizations of equipment and systems.
