Commissioning Specialist

About The Position

This role supports the final testing and commissioning of Audio-Visual systems during and after installation. Depending on experience level, responsibilities may range from performing foundational system tests and verifications to providing technical leadership on complex tasks or technology assignments. You’ll work closely with the Project Manager to deliver documented test results, support commissioning efforts, and ensure systems perform to design and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal teams and customers
  • Strong business writing skills
  • Familiarity with, or willingness to learn, test and calibrate equipment
  • Ability to support system acceptance testing
  • Basic to intermediate control system programming or troubleshooting (Crestron/QSYS), with a desire to grow
  • Foundational understanding of diagnosing system issues; advanced troubleshooting skills for more experienced applicants
  • Knowledge of audio, video, and control signal flow
  • Understanding of IP networking concepts
  • Solid PC proficiency
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record meeting AVI-SPL standards
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to climb and work on ladders up to 35 feet and lift tools/equipment up to 50 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Formal education in Electronics or a related field
  • AV installation or commissioning experience; candidates with less experience but strong technical aptitude are encouraged to apply
  • A four-year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience
  • Experience with enterprise VC solutions (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, BlueJeans, Cisco Telepresence, etc.)
  • AVIXA CTS certification (or willingness to pursue)

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints
  • Test point-to-point functionality of systems
  • Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness of installation
  • Test integrated systems and assist with troubleshooting for AMX/Crestron and DSP systems
  • Upload and download control programs (AMX/Crestron), with opportunities to expand programming skills
  • Write or modify DSP code appropriate to your skill level
  • Perform minor programming changes under direction of an engineer or senior programmer
  • Fine-tune audio and video systems to ensure optimal performance
  • Configure IP-addressable devices to establish network communication
  • Provide client training and complete final job documentation as needed
  • Act as a customer liaison in the absence of the Project Manager
  • Create, track, and complete a project punch list
  • Travel to job sites as required
