About The Position

APS is seeking a Sales Engineer to support enterprise customers in the energy and data center construction markets. This is a newly created, high-impact role designed to scale our sales and customer success efforts as APS continues to grow. The Sales Engineer serves as a trusted technical advisor, partnering closely with Account Executives (AEs) and Customer Success Managers (CSMs) to guide customers through discovery, product demonstrations, and solution validation. This role bridges the gap between field experience and consultative sales, helping customers understand how APS’s software improves quality, commissioning, and execution of complex construction and electrical work. This is an individual contributor role with no cold calling. All customer engagements are warm, AE-led opportunities.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of experience in one or more of the following: SaaS pre-sales / Sales Engineering
  • Solution Consulting
  • Customer Success with technical ownership
  • Data center or energy construction transitioning into a sales-facing role
  • Background in data center construction, modular construction, or energy infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • Electrical systems, commissioning, and testing
  • MEP coordination and installations
  • Structural and electrical equipment environments
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts in clear, customer-focused language.
  • Comfortable leading customer meetings, demos, and workshops both onsite and virtually.
  • Adaptable, flexible, and eager to learn new technology.
  • Outgoing, consultative personality with strong presentation skills.
  • Experience working with enterprise customers and multiple stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with CRM tools (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce).

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Account Executives to lead technical discovery sessions and solution discussions.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert for customers including hyperscalers, general contractors, developers, and electrical contractors.
  • Translate real-world construction, commissioning, and electrical testing workflows into clear business and technical value.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by drawing on firsthand industry experience.
  • Deliver tailored software demonstrations focused on customer workflows, outcomes, and ROI.
  • Lead workshops and proof-of-concept engagements to validate solution fit.
  • Support early-stage deployments alongside the Houston-based implementation team.
  • Train customers on software usage and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Customer Success Managers to support adoption, expansion, and long-term success.
  • Capture customer requirements and ensure a smooth handoff to Implementation and Professional Services.
  • Respond to RFPs/RFQs, security questionnaires, and technical inquiries (including architecture and integrations).
  • Participate in internal product feedback sessions with Product, Sales, and Marketing teams.
