About The Position

Shimmick Construction is seeking an experienced Commissioning Representative for the Chickamauga Lock Replacement Project. This role requires a strong background in electrical systems and instrumentation/control systems, with proven ability to manage submittals, specifications, and documentation. Applicants must be able to pass security and background checks for federal projects. Commissioning will involve electrical systems, communication systems, instrumentation & control systems, electronic systems, mechanical systems, lock operating machinery systems, architectural systems, and structural systems to deliver a functional lock project for increased upstream and downstream movement of river traffic on the Tennessee River. Qualifications for any of the systems mentioned will be considered.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED + 8 years of relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with the coordination of any of the systems described.
  • Ability to pass security and background checks required for the project.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous USACE, TVA or Federal contracting experience is a plus.
  • Familiarity with heavy civil construction and lock operating machinery systems.
  • Current OSHA 10 certification.
  • Must be detail oriented, thorough, well organized and effectively manage time.
  • Ability to work in a high-paced environment with a sense of urgency.
  • Strong organizational skills – ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning activities for electrical and instrumentation/control systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
  • Review and manage submittals, specifications, and documentation for commissioning tasks.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams to validate system functionality and integration.
  • Conduct and document commissioning tests, troubleshoot deficiencies, and oversee corrective actions.
  • Facilitate training sessions for operations and maintenance personnel.
  • Plan and schedule commissioning activities, including weekly coordination meetings.
