About The Position

The Commissioning Lead will perform and oversee the startup and operational readiness of our modular plants that convert landfill gas into biofuels (methanol and renewable natural gas). This position plays a key role in validating the performance and quality of M2X’s modular equipment both at the factory and in the field. The Commissioning Lead will coordinate and execute testing activities—including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and integrated system field commissioning—ensuring each modular plant meets design and production requirements. The role may also involve supervising other commissioning technicians (mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and controls). Frequent travel to manufacturing and project sites across the US will be required.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in process plant commissioning, startup, or operations (chemical, gas processing, or related).
  • Strong working knowledge of process control systems, instrumentation, and utilities.
  • Proven experience conducting FAT and/or SAT for process equipment
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, and commissioning checklists.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting skills with pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, analyzers, and PLC-based systems.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively for field and factory assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in renewable natural gas (RNG) processing, landfill gas operations, or methanol production systems.
  • Prior leadership experience in commissioning or startup team management.
  • Familiarity with modular or containerized plant designs and associated testing processes.
  • Working knowledge of applicable standards and regulations (NFPA, API, EPA).

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute FAT at M2X’s Florida manufacturing to verify equipment construction, functionality, and controls integration prior to shipment.
  • Lead and conduct SAT and on-site commissioning activities, ensuring system readiness, safety, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Develop and manage commissioning plans, procedures, and documentation, including punch lists, test records, and system handover packages.
  • Supervise and mentor commissioning technicians, ensuring cohesive collaboration across company disciplines.
  • Verify proper installation, loop checks, function tests, and performance validation of mechanical and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot process, instrumentation, and automation issues during startup and optimization.
  • Interface with engineering, manufacturing, project development, and field operations teams to resolve technical or schedule issues.
  • Maintain strict adherence to environmental, health, and safety (EHS) standards throughout commissioning activities.
  • Support continuous improvement by capturing lessons learned and updating standard commissioning practices and procedures for modular deployments.
