About The Position

The Commissioning Engineer at Kasa Companies, Inc. is responsible for commissioning startups and standby projects, providing essential engineering and technical support for automation and controls processes within the manufacturing, automotive, and parcel industries. This role involves diagnosing equipment malfunctions, troubleshooting electrical wiring, designing and developing PLC and HMI programs, and evaluating programming code. The engineer will conduct functional testing, ensure system compliance with industry standards, review project specifications, and prepare necessary documentation and reports. Collaboration with project managers, subcontractors, and design/construction teams is also a key aspect of the position. The role is eligible for remote work but requires significant national and international travel (75%).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related.
  • One year of related work experience.
  • Experience with troubleshooting electrical wiring issues during startup and commissioning phase of project.
  • Experience with network infrastructure and communication protocols.
  • Experience with setting up hardware devices, Rockwell Control Logix, Compact Logix, and PanelView.
  • Experience with programming Siemens PLC and WinCC HMIs.
  • Travel required national and international (75%).

Responsibilities

  • Commission startups and standby projects.
  • Provide engineering and technical support for automation and controls processes in manufacturing, automotive and parcel industries.
  • Determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment to operation.
  • Troubleshoot electrical wiring issues during startup and commissioning phase of project.
  • Design and develop PLC and HMI programs.
  • Evaluate and troubleshoot applications programming code.
  • Conduct functional testing and system verification to meet design intent and performance standards.
  • Ensure all systems are installed and functioning according to industry standards and best practices.
  • Review drawings and specifications across multiple projects to ensure the building owner’s intent met the requirements.
  • Prepare documentation, safety paperwork, and manuals, as necessary for each industry.
  • Prepare daily reports that summarize the key findings, issues and corrective actions.
  • Interface and collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and members of the design and construction teams to ensure integration of systems.
