About The Position

The position involves working on commercial (non-residential) HVAC and/or electrical systems, focusing on the commissioning (Cx) process for new construction projects. Responsibilities include developing Cx Plans and specifications, conducting design reviews, performing site observations, and verifying functional performance testing procedures. The role requires managing multiple projects concurrently and utilizing web-based Cx software for tracking issues. The candidate will also engage in quality assurance on project sites and may assist in identifying energy cost savings opportunities. Additional duties include professional development and participation in marketing activities.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two years HVAC or electrical technology degree from an accredited community college or equivalent practical work experience.
  • Experience with commercial HVAC and/or electrical systems including design, construction, installation, operations, maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Active role in a minimum of three projects (50,000 s.f. per project).
  • Proficient in reading and understanding construction drawings and specifications.
  • Basic understanding of various HVAC and/or electrical systems.
  • Ability to relate technical knowledge to a non-technical audience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software programs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification(s) from applicable organizations such as ACG, AABC, AEE, NEBB, etc.
  • Familiarity with the Cx process.

Responsibilities

  • Project assignments include all aspects of the Cx process for new construction from design to warranty phases.
  • Development of Cx Plans and specifications.
  • Conduct design reviews and perform site observations documented in field observation reports.
  • Review and verify the TAB report and develop functional performance testing procedures.
  • Prepare final Cx reports and review closeout documents.
  • Engage in existing building commissioning, ASHRAE Energy Audits, and monitoring-based commissioning services.
  • Work on several projects concurrently and communicate issues clearly with stakeholders.
  • Perform quality assurance on project sites and monitor installation of construction materials.
  • Assist in developing energy cost savings opportunities.
  • May provide lead role in small to mid-size projects or components of large projects.
