Commissioner Summer Youth Program
About The Position
The Shelby County Board of Commissioners’ Summer Youth Program is an invaluable opportunity for students in Shelby County to acquire new skills, achieve financial independence, and expand their professional networks. Eligible participants, ages 14 – 24, can engage in a variety of roles across Shelby County. Interns will have the chance to gain experience in departments of Shelby County Government, as well as private sector organizations that are participants in our program. Participants will receive a competitive wage of $10.00 per hour for ages 14 and 15, and $15.00 per hour for ages 16 to 24. Participants will work from Monday, June 1, 2026, until Friday, July 24, 2026, for eight (8) weeks, hours to be determined by Sponsor.
Requirements
- Must be a Shelby County resident.
- Must be enrolled in a school program (to include high school, trade, college, or home school).
- Must be able to present the required documents such as: Driver's License/State ID and Social Security Card.
- Any students age 18 by June 1st are subject to and must pass a background check.
