About The Position
Lead the organization striving to make North Dakota the healthiest state in the nation by reinforcing the foundations of well-being: physical, economic and behavioral. Join us as the Commissioner of the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and member of the Governor's Cabinet. In this role, you will shape the overarching vision and strategic direction of DHHS, the largest agency in the executive branch. Your responsibilities will encompass developing and executing the strategic plan and aligning it with the budget. Overseeing a network of 65+ locations throughout North Dakota, including Human Service Centers and Zones (County Social Services), you will ensure seamless administration of programs and services in strict adherence to federal and state regulations. Success in this role hinges on your ability to inspire and lead a high-performing, engaged team dedicated to delivering an innovative, citizen-focused experience. Effective communication and collaboration with legislators, stakeholders, public and private organizations, tribal nations, and the media are essential for this position.
