About The Position
The Commissioner of Health and Human Services is responsible for overseeing public health initiatives and ensuring the protection of public health within the community. This role involves directing services and programs related to disease control, sanitary living conditions, and environmental protection. The Commissioner will work closely with the City's advisory council of health and coordinate with various municipal and state agencies to implement health and human services programs. The position requires the development and administration of the department's operating budget, as well as conducting community needs assessments to align programs with consumer needs. The Commissioner will also be involved in emergency preparedness and the evaluation of public health services.
