About The Position

The Commissioned School Security Officer (CSSO) will provide armed security for students, staff, and visitors in Rogers Schools. CSSOs will patrol school buildings and building grounds to prevent unauthorized visitors and to promote a culture of safety and security. Applicants with a law enforcement or military background are preferred but not required. CSSO duties will include but are not limited to: To engage an active shooter with lethal force if necessary Prevent access to school buildings and grounds by unauthorized visitors Promote a culture of safety and security on school grounds Provide armed security for all occupants of school buildings and grounds Participate in safety walk throughs and building assessments Assist with building drills and other emergency procedures Assist with car rider, bus rider, and crosswalk duties Monitor the school’s emergency management system and security cameras Provide safety and security trainings to students, families, staff, and the community Obtain a CDL and drive a school bus Prepare reports Collaborate with district and school administrators Collaborate with first responders for ongoing training Abide by all state and federal laws and regulations Other duties as assigned CSSO Requirements: Act 393 of 2015, mandates training requirements for CSSOs in Arkansas Applicants must be 21 years or older Applicants must have a valid drivers license Applicants must clear the Arkansas State Police and FBI background checks Applicants must pass a psychological exam Applicants must submit to random drug screenings Applicants must provide a current vision and hearing report Applicants must complete a 60 hour minimum three phased CSSO training and pass a final examination Applicants must complete a refresher course of training every year Applicants must complete a renewal three phase course of training every two years Contract: 8 hours per day, 190 days per year

Requirements

  • Applicants must be 21 years or older
  • Applicants must have a valid drivers license
  • Applicants must clear the Arkansas State Police and FBI background checks
  • Applicants must pass a psychological exam
  • Applicants must submit to random drug screenings
  • Applicants must provide a current vision and hearing report
  • Applicants must complete a 60 hour minimum three phased CSSO training and pass a final examination
  • Applicants must complete a refresher course of training every year
  • Applicants must complete a renewal three phase course of training every two years
