About The Position

The Commercial Loan Servicing Syndication Officer is responsible for administering and servicing syndicated and participated loan activities, such as handling advances, payments, rate pricing, fee, and overall maintenance of the loans where Cathay Bank is the lead/agent or a participating bank. The Commercial Loan Servicing Syndication Officer will provide support and direction to syndication servicing team members and will step in as back up to the Syndication Servicing Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • Minimum three years of experience in commercial loan servicing and syndication servicing and relevant commercial loan boarding.
  • Experience with syndications working directly with Lead Bank or Participating Banks required.
  • Commercial loan accounting system experience required with FIS preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of syndication industry practice and processes.
  • Broad knowledge of loan documents with outside counsel prepared documents preferred with knowledge of letters of credit, borrowing based lending, multi-phased construction, and multiple collateral properties.
  • Thorough knowledge of commercial finance, documentation, accounting, and data systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (Mandarin or Cantonese) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Receives and reviews borrower’s request or Lead Bank’s request to advance funds against line of credit ensuring proper availability and processes advances on the loan system.
  • Receives funds via wire and notices from Lead Banks to post payments on the loans and clear wire suspense timely.
  • Receives notices requesting loan advance and verifies all provisions have been met and processes the advance on the loan system and disburses the funds to the Lead Bank in accordance with the Agreement.
  • Calculates the amounts/shares applicable to each participating bank regarding advances and payments.
  • Prepares notices requesting advance of funds from participating banks and post accordingly upon receipt of funds.
  • Posts payments upon receipt from the borrower and or Lead Bank and monitors receipt of wires.
  • Prepares notices of receipt of payments to participating banks and wires funds accordingly.
  • Monitors interest index, repricing and provides rate change notices to participating banks or processes rate changes upon receipt of notice from Lead Bank.
  • Prepares wire instructions and submits funds to participating banks or upon request from lead bank to disburse funds.
  • Prepares Fees Notices with proper fee computations.
  • Processes Notes Sales with premium/discount as requested by the lending team in accordance with Accounting Department’s note sale accounting entries.
  • Reviews and processes new, renewal, and modification loan boardings.
  • Monitors delinquencies and works with Lead Bank to settle delinquencies due to syndication administrative issues.
  • Reconstructs disputed loan accounting with Lead Bank.
  • Reconciles the wire account in suspense for timely posting of funds received.
  • Acts as a liaison between Relationship Managers and the Lead Bank.
  • May assist in creating/establishing procedures in support of the Loan Syndication Administration.
  • Responds to all internal and external client inquiries.
  • Supports other projects as assigned by the Manager.
  • Manages and tracks a centralized email box and delegates work.
  • Approves General Ledger entries as back up to the Syndication Servicing Supervisor.
  • Approves outgoing wires as back up to the Syndication Servicing Supervisor.
  • Provides general directions to syndication servicing team members.
