About The Position

Obagi Cosmeceuticals is seeking a strategic and operationally savvy Commercialization Manager to oversee the physical and financial success of new product launches (including tech transfer from one CMO to another). Reporting to the VP of Global Operations, this role will manage the end-to-end transition of products from development to full-scale production, ensuring all CMO and supplier partners are technically capable, cost-efficient, and fully onboarded to company standards in collaboration with Innovation team.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; a focus in Business Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or similar related fields strongly preferred.
  • At least 6+ years in global operations, manufacturing, or commercialization and prior experience with vendor management and external manufacturing.
  • Financial Mastery: Able to manage P&L requirements, perform cost-benefit analyses, and negotiate contracts that protect corporate margins.
  • Technical Background: Deep understanding of industrial engineering or manufacturing technology and comfortable working directly with technical teams / production machinery.
  • Negotiation & Onboarding: Demonstrated skill in contract negotiation and the structured onboarding of complex third-party suppliers.
  • Portfolio Management: Able to confidently manage and prioritize multiple projects at any given time and understanding when to escalate or deescalate situations.
  • Business Collaboration: Partner cross functionally with various teams including: PMO, Planning, Finance, Sourcing, Packaging, Quality, and Regulatory.
  • Travel: Able and willing to travel domestically up to 15% of the time

  • MBA or PMP certification highly preferred but not required
  • Prior experience with beauty / skincare highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • CMO & Supplier Onboarding: Lead the end-to-end onboarding process for new Contract Manufacturing Organizations (CMOs) and suppliers. This includes setting up SLA and quality agreements, communication protocols, and ensuring all partners are integrated into the global supply chain system.
  • Capability & Lead-Time Analysis: Conduct rigorous, technical audits of new and existing partners. Evaluate equipment, workforce expertise, and production lead times to ensure they meet required market speed and volume targets.
  • Pricing & Margin Accountability: Drive all negotiations regarding production pricing and commercial and financial terms. You are responsible for ensuring every project meets or exceeds company profit margin targets by aggressively managing Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and operational overhead.
  • Tech Transfer: Direct the physical technology transfer from one CMO to another CMO as needed. Supervise pilot runs, validate technical specs with Innovation and Quality team, and troubleshoot manufacturing hurdles.
  • Communication: Act as the central POC between internal Project Managers and external manufacturing teams. Translate high-level project timelines into actionable shop-floor milestones and hold partners accountable for delivery dates.
  • Domestic Site Management: Travel to various domestic sites to conduct business reviews, audit capabilities, and manage "boots on the ground" execution during critical launch phases.
