About The Position

Merchants Insurance Group, a leading Property and Casualty Insurer in the Northeast, is looking for is looking for a highly motivated Commercial Underwriting Support Center Intern interested in learning and applying their skills in a corporate capacity. You will be working directly with colleagues and learning about diverse topics including general insurance, underwriting, claims, loss control, premium audit and data reporting. Requirements

  • Candidates should be pursuing a 4-year college degree.
  • An interest in pursuing a career with a property and casualty insurance company is desired.
  • Full-time, paid internship at $20.00 hourly starting May 2026 through August 2026 based on school schedule. A minimum commitment of 2-3 months is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as a team in a hybrid work environment
  • Has a willingness to take on a diverse set of projects and deliver high quality work

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Support Center in daily task operations including Indexing, Scanning, Endorsement processing, Cancellation Processing, and motor vehicle records (MVR) pulls.
  • Property and Casualty Training – Learn through the Property and Casualty Principles book about Property and Casualty Insurance, lines of business, and the different aspects of the insurance world.
  • Training and Development – Work with colleagues to learn more about diverse topics including general insurance, products, underwriting, claims, loss control, premium audit, and data reporting.
  • Ad-hoc analytical projects including end of Non-Renewal Project, One Note consolidation, and procedure improvements.
