About The Position

Executive Title Company is rapidly growing its commercial escrow division to meet the increasing demand for complex real estate transactions. We pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service and deep expertise to our clients. As we expand, we are seeking experienced Commercial Underwriters to support our commercial portfolio and play a key role in shaping our growth. The Commercial Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting commercial real estate transactions, analyzing risk, and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and title standards. This individual will work closely with our commercial escrow officers, attorneys, and clients to deliver accurate, timely, and high-quality underwriting support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, real estate, or related field (preferred).
  • Law Degree (preferred)
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in commercial title underwriting, preferably within a title insurance company or law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of Texas real estate laws, title insurance regulations, and ALTA/CLTA guidelines.
  • Proven ability to handle complex, high-value commercial transactions with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and risk-assessment skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, attorneys, lenders, and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency in title/escrow software systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze commercial real estate title commitments, surveys, plats, and related documents to identify potential risks or encumbrances.
  • Underwrite complex commercial transactions including multi-site, multi-state, and high-value deals.
  • Collaborate with escrow officers, attorneys, lenders, and clients to resolve title issues efficiently and accurately.
  • Provide guidance on title policies, endorsements, and applicable underwriting standards.
  • Interpret and apply state and federal regulations, company guidelines, and industry best practices to underwriting decisions.
  • Draft and issue title commitments, policies, and endorsements in a timely manner.
  • Identify and mitigate risk by escalating complex issues to senior underwriters or legal counsel when appropriate.
  • Support business development by serving as a subject matter expert for commercial escrow officers and clients.
  • Maintain strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure smooth closings.
  • Contribute to continuous process improvement and knowledge-sharing within the commercial underwriting team.
