We’re looking for a Commercial Underwriter to join our Northern Commercial Markets team, based in Auckland’s viaduct. You’ll manage your own portfolio, make confident underwriting decisions within your authority, and play a key role in how we grow and improve the way we work. Requirements
- 2–3+ years’ commercial underwriting experience (NZ market preferred)
- Confidence working directly with brokers and external partners
- Strong underwriting judgement with a practical, commercial mindset
- Clear, responsive communication style and a reputation for being easy to work with
- Curiosity and initiative — you look for better ways, not just standard ways
Responsibilities
- Partnering with brokers and BDMs on new business, renewals, and endorsements
- Assessing and underwriting commercial risks within your authority
- Managing a portfolio of renewals and new business opportunities
- Contributing to process improvements and better ways of working
- Monitoring portfolio trends to support strong commercial outcomes
- Supporting strong conversion while maintaining great turnaround times and broker experience
