About The Position

All candidates are encouraged to apply and depending on prior experience the position could be an Underwriter I or II. The Underwriter I (U/W I) along with the other credit support staff, works closely with the Credit Administrator and the Director of Credit Administration to evaluate basic loan applications. The applications include, but are not limited to: small commercial real estate and term loans; secured lines of credit; and business express unsecured requests. In addition to evaluating the loan applications, the incumbent assists in completing credit analysis; monitoring loan disbursements and compliance with loan terms; and setting up systems, products and services associated with the lending functions of United Business Bank. The incumbent completes financial analysis and develops credit presentations for new loans, renewals, annual reviews and covenant monitoring. The U/W I interacts with clients to discuss credit requests and obtain and evaluate appropriate information relative to the request. The incumbent assists the Relationship Manager in determining loan structure, and makes credit presentations to the loan committee in the absence of the Relationship Manager. The incumbent has other duties related to credit administration as defined over time. In addition, performs all duties accurately, timely and efficiently, and according to Bank policies, procedures and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Math, Business or related field, required.
  • Knowledge of banking; lending operations/procedures, as well as various regulations and standard banking practices.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the lending area of a financial institution as a Credit Analyst.
  • Strong oral and written communication abilities.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong business development techniques and cross-selling skills.
  • Ability to identify, analyze and handle credit requests.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Good personal computer skills, ability to use Word and Excel.
