About The Position

Colony Tire is currently seeking a full-time Commercial Service Tire Technician to join our team. Our technicians work for competitive pay in a fast-paced environment. Employee will be required to repair and replace tires on commercial vehicles at the Colony location, customer locations, and on service calls on the side of a highway, as well as other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

  • Mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Operation and control of equipment or systems.
  • Active listening, giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Operation monitoring, watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.
  • Time management, managing one's own time.
  • Extent flexibility, the ability to bend, stretch, twist, or reach with one's body, arms, and/or legs.
  • Static strength, the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects.
  • Knowledge of commonly used tools.
  • Ability to recognize and use a variety of tools, including but not limited to power tools, such as pneumatic wrenches, machine tools, such as lathes and grinders, jack, sand hoists, and common hand tools.
  • Operating vehicles, mechanized devices, or equipment, such as forklifts, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles.
  • Performing general physical activities, performing physical activities that require considerable use of one's arms and legs and moving one's whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling or materials.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials, inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
  • Making decisions and solving problems, analyzing information and evaluation results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Must have a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle required for the position and be able to meet commercial driver qualification requirements.
  • Follow established procedures to inspect tires and wheels before and after service.
  • Determine repairable tire conditions and make such repairs.
  • Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors.
  • Document work performed accurately and according to company policy.
  • Unbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to vehicles using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools.
  • Mount and dismount any type of tire on drop center semi drop center, and multi-piece rims.
  • Match mating of dual assemblies.
  • Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size, ply, and load requirement.
  • Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels.
  • Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels.
  • Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects.
  • Pull vehicles in and out of shop safely.
