About The Position

A Commercial Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on engines and generators in the Electric Power, Industrial Machine, Marine, and On-Highway industry segments. This position is responsible for ensuring quality work performance, customer service, and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 year degree from an accredited Diesel Engine Technology Program or equivalent experience in mechanical/electrical service work.
  • PC skills required and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel preferred.
  • Must have outstanding positive attitude at all times!
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and excellent customer service skills necessary.
  • Must be able to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
  • Able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities needed include: close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to have manual dexterity to operate equipment and tools required on the job.
  • Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record. This includes no more than 2 minor violations within the past 3 years and no major violations within the past 5 years (Motor Vehicle will be performed on final candidate).

Responsibilities

  • Performs troubleshooting, routine maintenance, and replacement and repair of engines, generator sets, and associated accessory equipment including on-highway trucks.
  • Performs routine maintenance on engine-generators and associated accessory equipment.
  • Performs engine-generator overhauls and other major repairs, as needed.
  • Assists with removal, transportation, and handling of large pieces of equipment, as needed.
  • Handle job planning, securing necessary equipment, and parts ordering for work orders.
  • Reports work on time cards and service reports.
  • Works with service office to coordinate work and ensure customer is satisfied with overall maintenance/repairs.
  • Assists service office with repair quotes.
  • May perform other related duties as requested and/or assigned.
