About The Position
Commercial Service HVAC Apprentice VanderHyde Mechanical | Grand Rapids, MI Pay: $16–$21 per hour, based on experience VanderHyde Mechanical, a family-owned business located on the Northwest side of Grand Rapids, is seeking a motivated Commercial HVAC Service Apprentice to join our growing team. VanderHyde Mechanical is a trusted leader in residential and commercial Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical services and has proudly served West Michigan for over 35 years . Position Overview The Commercial HVAC Apprentice assists Lead HVAC Technicians with daily service activities while gaining hands-on experience and technical knowledge. Requirements
- Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record
- Ability to pass background and reference checks
- Possession of basic hand tools
- Willingness to learn and work in a fast-paced, changing environment
Nice To Haves
- HVAC experience: 1 year (preferred, but not )
Responsibilities
- Assist with routine maintenance, cleaning, and inspection of HVAC equipment
- Learn and support service diagnostics and repair tasks
- Complete required documentation per service call, including notes, photos, estimates, and timesheets
- Assist team members in completing assigned work
- Collect signatures, paperwork, and payments as directed
- Learn to communicate proper equipment operation and maintenance to customers
- Develop organized, efficient, and professional work practices
- Learn to identify potential issues that may prevent equipment from operating correctly
