About The Position

Mid-South Roof Systems is seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing Estimator to support our growing estimating team. This role is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, developing accurate cost estimates, and preparing competitive bid proposals for commercial roofing projects. The Estimator manages projects through the bid process by coordinating with vendors, suppliers, project managers, and field leadership to ensure all aspects of the project scope are properly evaluated. Once a project is awarded, the Estimator ensures a smooth transition by clearly communicating project scope and requirements to the operations and project management teams. This role plays a critical part in supporting the company’s continued growth by helping secure profitable projects while maintaining strong relationships with customers and industry partners.

Requirements

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
Experience performing quantity takeoffs and cost analysis
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong negotiation and customer service abilities
Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills
Strong organizational and time management abilities
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple bids simultaneously
Ability to work collaboratively across departments
Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent industry experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in the construction industry, preferably in commercial roofing or estimating
Experience preparing construction estimates and reviewing project specifications preferred
Candidates must currently reside in Georgia within commuting distance of the Atlanta area.

Nice To Haves

Knowledge of commercial roofing systems including TPO, PVC, EPDM, and Modified Bitumen preferred
Familiarity with roofing materials, installation methods, and manufacturer requirements

Responsibilities

Review construction documents and quantify roofing components.
Compare project drawings, specifications, and related documents to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Coordinate with vendors and distributors to obtain material pricing and availability.
Utilize internal and external resources (superintendents, project managers, distributors, manufacturer representatives, etc.) to understand roofing system installation methods and project requirements.
Communicate with customers and general contractors to ensure bids align with project requirements and expectations.
Maintain an in-depth understanding of project specifications and scope requirements.
Prepare detailed bid proposals using company estimating spreadsheets and tools while ensuring accurate estimates and adherence to company margins.
Revise estimates as new project information or addendums become available.
Follow up on submitted bids to help secure awarded projects.
Clearly communicate project scope, requirements, and documentation when handing off awarded projects to project management and operations.
