Commercial Roofing Estimator/ Project Manager
About The Position
We are seeking an experienced Commercial Roofing & Architectural Sheet Metal Estimator / Project Manager to support projects throughout Des Moines, IA. This dual-role position requires a detail-oriented construction professional capable of leading both pre-construction estimating and project execution for commercial roofing and building envelope systems. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in commercial roofing systems, metal panel installations, flashing assemblies, and sheet metal fabrication, along with the ability to oversee projects from initial takeoff through final completion.
Requirements
- Proven experience estimating and managing commercial roofing or architectural sheet metal projects
- Strong understanding of TPO, EPDM, modified bitumen, standing seam systems, ACM panels, and flashing assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications
- Experience preparing bids, proposals, and cost analyses
- Proficiency with estimating software and construction management tools (Bluebeam, PlanSwift, Procore, or similar)
- Strong knowledge of building envelope systems and installation sequencing
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities
- Detail-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving skills

- Previous experience in project management or field coordination preferred
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, material takeoffs, and bid proposals for commercial roofing and architectural sheet metal projects
- Review blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to accurately interpret project scope
- Manage project schedules, procurement, and production timelines
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and field crews
- Evaluate labor costs, material pricing, and job profitability
- Monitor active projects to ensure compliance with safety standards and quality expectations
- Participate in project meetings, site visits, and progress reviews
- Oversee contract administration, change orders, and documentation management
- Troubleshoot field challenges and provide practical construction solutions
- Maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships within the Des Moines market
