About The Position

The Commercial Relationship Manager III at Fifth Third Bank is responsible for profitable business development and monitoring the quality of an extensive existing portfolio of companies with annual gross sales of at least $10 million, focusing more on customers with higher revenues (i.e. at least $20 million). This position requires a strong understanding of credit, commercial products, and financial statement analysis to offer beneficial banking solutions based on clients' needs. The incumbent will have extensive knowledge and experience working with high revenue, more complex relationships and is expected to solicit participation in public debt issuance for clients while actively participating in community activities. The role emphasizes accountability for risk management and ensuring a positive customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business (e.g. Business Administration, Finance, Accounting) or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 6 years Commercial Banking experience, with at least 5 years of sales experience preferred.
  • Formalized commercial credit training or equivalent credit experience required.
  • Underwriting experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of partnership with investment bankers to provide strategic and capital market advice.
  • Strong business acumen, including detailed analysis and understanding of accounting principles.
  • Thorough knowledge of Commercial, Treasury Management, and alternative lending and financing options.
  • Ability to assess client needs and optimize financial solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in face-to-face negotiations.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office software; familiarity with prospecting and CRM sales tools preferred.
  • Ability to work in a team-based sales environment.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and develop profitable new 'lead left' client relationships by leveraging centers of influence, existing clients, and referral sources.
  • Develop and implement a business plan to achieve financial goals and qualitative measures.
  • Work closely with Fifth Third internal partners to deepen existing relationships and acquire new prospective relationships.
  • Attend community and/or specific industry forums, conferences, and/or meetings to broaden relationship networks and deepen knowledge of trends and practices.
  • Analyze, evaluate, and develop a tailored relationship strategy for each client or prospect.
  • Ensure customer relationships are managed to maximize opportunities while considering Bank risk and customer needs.
  • Meet with customers regularly to enhance the trusted advisor relationship and ensure business needs are met.
  • Utilize consultative selling skills and commercial playbook principles to enhance the client experience.
  • Utilize the Bank's CRM system for client activity tracking, call reports, and pipeline management.
  • Analyze financial information to determine appropriate credit requests.
  • Monitor customer financial performance and industry trends to manage credit exposure.
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers and Credit Officers on credit requests and adhere to established Portfolio Management guidelines.
