About The Position

The Commercial Relationship Lender at Raiz FCU is responsible for generating commercial loans and deposits by building strong relationships with business owners and other stakeholders. This role involves advising members on customized loan options, assessing financial information, and managing the lending process from application to closing. The lender will also maintain a loan portfolio, ensuring compliance with lending policies and regulations while providing excellent service to members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or related area.
  • Minimum of 5 years lending experience.
  • Understanding of determining credit worthiness.
  • Knowledge of credit union loan policies, products, procedures, processing, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and complete risk rate models.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to evaluate alternative solutions and make sound decisions.
  • Proficient in basic office equipment and computer software including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive knowledge of lending regulations and compliance.
  • Experience with loan application processes and financial analysis.
  • Familiarity with UCA Cash Flow and financial ratios.

Responsibilities

  • Generate commercial loans and deposits by developing strong lending relationships with business owners, CPAs, builders, developers, realtors, and loan brokers.
  • Advise members on different customized loan options and assess financial information.
  • Perform due diligence on the lending process from application to closing documentation.
  • Review borrowers' and/or guarantors' financial data, including tax returns, income statements, and business plans.
  • Keep abreast of amendments to loan policies, lending procedures, and regulations.
  • Mitigate any loan policy exceptions or deficiencies and submit complete loan files for underwriting review.
  • Manage loan portfolio including renewals, modifications, updated credit analysis, collections, and portfolio monitoring.
  • Market CU member business and commercial loan products to the local community.
  • Generate new business through prospecting, outside calling, networking, and referrals.
  • Screen prospects to identify those that meet underwriting criteria and organizational mission objectives.
  • Complete initial loan application packages ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Organize loan paperwork and submit files for underwriting review.
  • Negotiate loan terms and conditions effectively.
  • Provide information to members regarding questions and loan requests.
  • Ensure all loans are originated and disclosed accurately and timely within compliance requirements.
  • Communicate the status of borrower files to staff regularly and engage team members as appropriate.
  • Create and maintain reports for management reporting and periodic loan review meetings.
  • Participate in community and professional organizations and events.
