About The Position

The Commercial Real Estate Underwriter at Seacoast Bank plays a crucial role in supporting the revenue growth and asset quality of the commercial lending line of business. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in commercial credit analysis, lending, loan structuring, underwriting, and portfolio management.
  • Formal commercial credit training preferred.
  • Ability to develop analytic and risk management skills for complex transactions.
  • Sound judgment in applying analytical conclusions to credit approval and loan structure.
  • Familiarity with various industries and commercial property types.
  • Experience evaluating economic and market conditions.
  • Experience analyzing collateral and collateral valuation.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze financial information on existing and potential customers to assess their financial condition and ability to repay loan requests.
  • Perform periodic or annual reviews and covenant tests, or loan modifications.
  • Investigate sources of credit and financial information, including reporting services and credit bureaus.
  • Understand the market and industry in which the customer operates.
  • Assess collateral pledged as security for loans.
  • Meet with borrowers and accountants to gather necessary information.
  • Prepare and present financial information, industry data, and economic influences in required formats.
  • Prepare analytical credit memoranda that identify risks, analyze repayment sources, and evaluate collateral.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of credit culture and loan policy to advise on risk appetite and policy adherence.
  • Negotiate loan structures with Commercial Bankers on underwriting assignments.
  • Ensure loan agreements are complete and accurate according to approvals.
  • Support timely loan closing and funding activities.
  • Manage loan portfolio to ensure compliance with approved terms and loan documents.
  • Identify weaknesses in loans to minimize exposure and reduce credit risk.
  • Assist the Special Assets Department in managing problem loans and minimizing charge-offs.
  • Stay current on market and industry issues, trends, and regulatory pronouncements.
