About The Position

The Commercial Portfolio Manager plays a crucial role in the Credit Delivery Team, primarily responsible for credit analysis, underwriting, and managing a portfolio of complex Wholesale Banking relationships. This position supports the Relationship Manager and market leadership in originating, monitoring, and growing profitable banking relationships across various industries. The role involves managing a loan portfolio that includes lines of credit, term notes, and real estate, while ensuring compliance with bank policies and regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 7+ years of experience in credit analysis, underwriting, portfolio management, or relationship management in commercial banking.
  • Credit analysis training or certificate program, with advanced skills in underwriting complex commercial credits.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements and tax returns.
  • Knowledge of non-credit bank products and services, credit risk management, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong analytical and financial analysis skills, with the ability to perform quick calculations.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with syndication and participation credits.
  • Experience in managing a loan portfolio of complex Wholesale Banking credits.
  • Understanding of macro and microeconomic issues as they apply to business.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Relationship Managers (RMs) and market leadership to manage and grow Wholesale Banking relationships.
  • Conduct credit analysis, underwriting, and prepare credit approval packages for new and existing loans.
  • Perform ongoing portfolio management and risk management activities to ensure compliance with credit policies and procedures.
  • Document loan agreements accurately and monitor compliance with established guidelines.
  • Prepare annual reviews to assess financial performance and update risk ratings for clients and guarantors.
  • Communicate effectively with internal business partners throughout the underwriting and portfolio management process.
  • Review third-party due diligence documents and work with legal counsel on loan documentation.
  • Participate in client calls with RMs to understand client needs and business operations.
