POSITION SUMMARY: The Commercial/Ag Portfolio Manager is primarily responsible for the ongoing monitoring of the commercial loan portfolio, including risk rating recommendations, exception review, and relationship retention/expansion. Supports and participates in all commercial lending initiatives. Provides administrative, analytical, and support assistance for Commercial Bankers while acting as a liaison between the client, the Commercial Banker, and the Administrative Assistant to ensure all commercial clients are serviced professionally to meet and exceed the client expectations. Additional responsibilities include the underwriting of complex commercial loan transactions via analysis of applications, tax returns, financial statements, and all other supporting documentation of commercial loan applicants. Research prevailing industry and market conditions. Makes credit recommendations for commercial loan requests. Analysis is performed through the examination and interpretation of historical and projected financial statements and related information, biographical data on a company and/or individual, market information, and credit reports, with a focus on determining a borrower's repayment ability. Assist the Credit Department in external loan reviews, safety and soundness exams, and the annual review function of the Bank, tracking missing financial items and review status by gathering financial items from customers. OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE: Manage a portfolio of accounts. Meet with clients and participate in business development calls. Assess prospective client’s viability for credit. Become a policy and procedure expert and recommend appropriate revisions, when necessary.
