About The Position

The Commercial Portfolio Manager supports the commercial loan and deposit portfolio of one or more Relationship Managers (Commercial with some CRE) providing quality underwriting, sound portfolio management and superior client service. This role involves analyzing financial information to evaluate the credit worthiness of new loan requests, renewal loan requests, and ongoing Portfolio Management activities through thorough and accurate analyses within the parameters of the Bank’s policies and procedures. The position also includes compiling commercial loan packages, ensuring completeness and accuracy of information provided, and guiding loan requests through the Credit Approval Process.

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in credit analysis, commercial banking, business banking.
  • At least 2 years of specific portfolio management and/or underwriting experience supporting Middle Market.
  • Familiarity with loan structuring and loan documentation.
  • Knowledge in accounting and lending principles.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal and State lending regulations and Bank policies related to lending procedures.

  • Graduation from a recognized school of banking is an asset or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes financial information to evaluate the credit worthiness of new loan requests, renewal loan requests, and ongoing Portfolio Management activities.
  • Completes industry research supporting existing and new Customers to the Bank.
  • Compiles commercial loan packages ensuring completeness and accuracy of information provided.
  • Completes additional credit analysis through more in-depth tools outside of traditional spreads and global cash flow.
  • Guides the loan request through the Credit Approval Process.
  • Assures compliance of large commercial loan relationships with State and Federal regulations and Bank policies.
  • Monitors and services large commercial loan portfolios through quality portfolio management work.
  • Grades risk of each loan in the assigned portfolio and recommends adjustments as circumstances change.
  • Assists Relationship Manager in credit presentation to Credit Administration or other leaders and Committees.
  • Ensures all required documentation is in file for all loans and treasury management approvals.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with internal business partners.
  • Undertakes special projects related to job function as determined by Credit Administration Leadership.
  • Continuously updates skills by participating in professional training.
  • Works with Relationship Manager, Credit Administrators, and Loan Assistant to minimize past due loans.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to fair lending practices and remains knowledgeable of all laws and regulations governing lending activities.
  • Builds and maintains positive working relationships with attorneys, appraisers, developers, and others.
