About The Position

RQ Construction is actively seeking a Commercial Plumbing Superintendent to lead field operations on Department of Defense construction projects in the Norfolk, VA area . This role is responsible for driving the successful installation of plumbing systems while maintaining strict adherence to safety, quality, and schedule expectations. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who understands how to manage crews, coordinate subcontractors, and keep complex mechanical scopes moving in a fast-paced construction environment.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a Plumbing Foreman or Superintendent on commercial or government projects
• Proven track record managing plumbing scopes valued at $400K or more
• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a commercial plumber
• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or construction-related coursework preferred
• OSHA 30, CPR, First Aid, EM-385, and STS certifications required (or ability to obtain)

Nice To Haves

• Experience supporting military, federal, or large commercial construction projects preferred
• Design-Build project experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook; exposure to BIM tools is beneficial

Responsibilities

• Oversee all plumbing and piping activities on active job sites
• Direct field crews and subcontractors to ensure work is completed efficiently and correctly
• Coordinate with project leadership to align mechanical work with overall project sequencing
• Enforce jobsite safety standards and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
• Monitor installation quality and ensure adherence to contract documents and specifications
• Identify and resolve field challenges before they impact schedule or cost
• Promote strong communication and teamwork across all trades on site
