About The Position

Audubon is currently seeking a Commercial Manager to join our team in our Metairie, LA Office. The Commercial Manager will report to the CCO and will be responsible for overseeing contractual and commercial aspects of projects company-wide. The role will support contract administration and risk management across the project lifecycle. Working closely with project managers, clients, consultants, and subcontractors, the commercial manager negotiates contracts, manages variations and claims and ensures compliance with commercial and legal requirements. Their focus is to protect the company’s commercial interests while supporting successful project delivery.

Requirements

  • The Commercial Manager must have strong contractual and commercial knowledge, negotiation and dispute resolution skills, risk management and strategic thinking.
  • Should have expert knowledge of construction contracts and subcontractor contracts.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Finance or Legal preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in the O&G or related industries and at least 5+ years’ experience in EPC or Construction only projects

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the contractual and commercial strategy for projects and bids
  • Review, interpret, and advise on contract conditions (e.g. NEC, JCT, FIDIC)
  • Identify contractual risks, liabilities, and opportunities during tender stage
  • Assist with contractual clarifications, exclusions, and qualifications
  • Lead the contractual management of variations, compensation events, and change orders
  • Ensure changes are properly instructed and assessed in accordance with the contract
  • Preserve entitlement through timely notices and substantiation
  • Manage extensions of time, delay events, and contractual relief mechanisms
  • Coordinate with planning teams to align programme impact with contract requirements
  • Lead or support the preparation of contractual claims (EOT, loss and expense, prolongation)
  • Assess claims from subcontractors and manage responses
  • Support dispute avoidance through early engagement and contract-driven solutions
  • Manage formal dispute processes (adjudication, arbitration, mediation) with legal advisors
  • Ensure claims and disputes are managed professionally and in line with contract provision
  • Lead drafting, negotiation, and administration of subcontracts and supply agreements
  • Ensure subcontract terms flow down key obligations from the main contract
  • Manage subcontract instructions, variations, and contractual correspondence
  • Address subcontract non-compliance and enforce contractual remedies where required
  • Assist with warranties, insurances, liens and collateral agreements
  • Maintain the contractual risk register and mitigation strategies
  • Identify contract ambiguities and manage them proactively
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and company policies
  • Support audits by maintaining robust and defensible contract records
