About The Position

An exciting opportunity exists for a Commercial Manager supporting key Defense Programs and LibertyWorks business. This role reports to the Commercial VP (US). The Defense Commercial Team provides professional support to Customer Business, Sales, Services and the Engine Program teams ensuring that business agreements are taken, executed and implemented in line with the business requirements and financial returns, while mitigating risk appropriately at each stage to ensure compliance with Company policy, processes and legal requirements. You will be responsible for delivering and supporting continuous corporate and functional improvement initiatives as required. You will also create, develop and ensure compliance with policies, procedures, guidelines and contracting infrastructures that meet Corporate governance and Commercial Functional requirements while developing and implementing Commercial best practice within their Sector/Business. Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Business Management, Law or Finance and 7+ years’ experience with managing or negotiating contracts
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Law or Finance and 5+years’ experience with managing or negotiating contracts
  • Master's Degree in Business Management, Law or Finance and 3+ years’ experience with managing or negotiating contracts
  • JD with 1+ years’ experience with managing or negotiating contracts
  • Or in lieu of degree 9+ years’ experience with managing or negotiating contracts
  • Experience in customer facing role
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have current or ability to obtain US Government clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with contract drafting, negotiation, management, and closeout
  • Experience with development programs, federal grants, and/or US Government Other Transaction Authority (OTA) agreements.
  • Proposal Development experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels both verbally and in writing.
  • Collaborates well in a team environment, building relationships across the business and effectively influencing other areas and corporate functions.

Responsibilities

  • Following guidance, interface with specialist departments within the Company to obtain advice and guidance. Evaluate and apply such advice and guidance in a manner appropriate to the situation at hand and to the requirements of the Sector/Business.
  • Produce or provide input to innovative proposals to secure profitable and/or strategic business for the Company.
  • Identify potential risks and liabilities inherent in tenders and contracts, propose and negotiate amendments to minimize or mitigate same, using judgment in balancing commercial/legal considerations against the requirements of the business, to secure contracts in conformity with Commercial policies and procedures.
  • Instruct and (where appropriate) administer new and existing business agreements and negotiate resolution of claims, disputes and litigation in order to minimize cost and risk to the Company.
  • Ensure the flow down of head contract terms and conditions to the supply chain and other affected areas of the Company.
  • Develop and manage Commercial relationships, internally and with external Customers, partners and suppliers as required in order to pursue all opportunities to maximize orders, profit and cash for the Company.
  • Manage the commercial processes to deliver a wide range of complex business initiatives to include government funded research collaborations, industry-academic partnerships, and manufacturing research centers.
  • Protect company intellectual property through the negotiation of nondisclosure agreements with commercial customers and potential business partners
