About The Position

The Loan Officer is responsible for underwriting loan requests and applications according to approved policies and procedures. This role involves preparing credit and presenting applicable requests to the loan review committee for approval. The position is remote and requires active participation in local business and community activities to market the Bank and facilitate new loans and deposits, assisting in meeting bank profitability goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication and phone etiquette.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel, including accuracy.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines; follow direction.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and follow-through.
  • Lending/banking/sales experience preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Actively participates in local business and community activities to market the Bank and facilitate new loans and deposits.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and processes commercial and consumer lending requests and packages.
  • Presents and reviews major loan requests to loan committee or Executive Committee of the board of directors for approval or rejection.
  • Negotiates loan participation and purchase agreements, inspects properties held as collateral, reviews applicable loan documents, and maintains files and servicing for such loans.
  • Works with attorneys representing the financial institution on loan matters.
  • Interviews commercial/consumer loan applicants and compiles financial information necessary for loan processing.
  • Assists in the Bank’s loan portfolios regarding risk management considerations to maintain quality control and minimize losses.
  • Orders credit reports and other required documents for loan applicants.
  • Actively involved in new commercial and consumer-based and third-party loan programs.
  • Markets the Bank through involvement in civic and community events and organizations.
  • Works closely with credit analysts in the underwriting process, using a team approach during the preparation of credit proposals.
  • Responsible for keeping the process moving by supplying necessary items to Loan Operations or to outside legal counsel/title companies to facilitate a closing.
