As a(n) Commercial Loan Analyst at Sandia Area, you are responsible for delivering excellent service while maintaining personal accountability in your actions and behaviors. Reporting directly to the Vice President Commercial Lending, the Commercial Loan Analyst is responsible for providing competent credit analysis for activities such as loan origination, preparing annual term loan reviews, underwriting new loan requests, preparing loan presentations, assisting in the administration of business loans, conducting appraisal reviews, and assisting with special projects or assignments.

  • Bachelor's degree in related field.
  • Directly related experience, in addition to minimum years required, may be considered as a substitution.
  • Two (2)year(s) of applicable experience required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience in loan production.
  • Extensive experience evaluating various financial documents for lending purposes.
  • Must have strong relationship management experience and skills for key commercial and small business accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Processes small business credit applications; verifies credit references and information and prepares loan presentations for approval by the Loan Executive Committee.
  • Prepares reports for various purposes, including the monthly board packet, for the Loan Executive Committee, etc.
  • Completes a thorough, in-depth analysis of new small business credit requests, credit requests, renewals and annual relationship reviews. May obtain information through direct inspection of the applicant’s business and/or collateral, review of interim financial reports, personal interviews, and other means.
  • Prepares spreadsheets, loan approval request forms, term loan reviews and summarizes opinions on new, renewing and existing loans.
  • Orders, reviews and documents any concerns with reports required in the loan process including, but not limited to, title commitments, appraisals, environmental reports, purchase agreements and legal opinion letters. Reports findings and concerns to the VP Commercial Lending or above.
  • Monitors loan repayment activities and provides information about delinquent loans to the appropriate loan officer.
  • Reviews and assures all credit and loan files are accurately maintained and up-to-date.
  • Handles member complaints and takes appropriate action to resolve them.
  • Assists the VP Commercial Lending Services with providing regulators and auditors with requested information needed to assess compliance with loan audits, reviews and policy and procedures.
  • Performs property inspection and risk rating analysis as part of the annual term loan review process. Recommends risk rating changes when analysis merits.
  • Reviews loan agreements to ensure they are complete and accurate according to policy.
  • Stays abreast of new types of loans and other financial services and products to better meet member needs.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to upholding the organization’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions and responsibilities.
  • Represent the credit union with professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct at all times.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding and strict adherence to credit union regulations, compliance requirements, policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.

  • Foster a positive and supportive environment for both members and employees, ensuring interactions align with the credit union’s mission and service philosophy.
  • Adhere to all regulatory and compliance policies, upholding the highest standards of security, confidentiality, and ethical financial practices in all interactions.
  • Maintain the confidentiality and security of information, records, and sensitive data, in compliance with credit union policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Adapt to evolving responsibilities, taking on additional duties as assigned to support the success of the organization.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and staying informed on industry trends and best practices.
  • Willing to undergo background and credit checks as required by federal and state regulations.
  • Understand and comply with all policies, procedures, and legal guidelines, including adherence to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and other applicable financial regulations.
