About The Position

We are seeking the ideal candidate for our Commercial Lines Underwriting Assistant opening for our growing insurance company located in Bedford Park, just a mile south of Midway Airport! The Commercial Underwriting Assistant will be responsible for assisting the Underwriting Department in overall productivity. Scope of the position includes ensuring compliance with state mandated handling guidelines and delivering customer service to agencies / policyholders. Provide excellent customer service phone duties for policy, billing and claim inquiries. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist the Underwriting Unit as required for new business, endorsement, and renewal processes Provide a high level of customer service by delivering timely responses to agents / policyholders on quotes, endorsements, and renewals Develop a basic understanding of coverage's, exposures, rating plans and state requirements Enter new business policies, endorsements, and renewals. Order reports and assimilate information as required to support the underwriting process Assist the Underwriting Unit as required for new business, endorsement, and renewal processes Work on special projects as directed Awareness of market conditions, company programs and competitor products QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Prior customer service experience Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills Good typing/data entry skills Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word Preferred: Related industry and Customer Service experience Knowledge of Property and Casualty Insurance Industry Solid written and oral communication skills First Chicago Insurance Company provides a competitive benefits package to all full-time employees. Estimated Compensation Range: $18/hr-$24/hr Published ranges are estimates. Offered compensation will be based on experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.

Requirements

Prior customer service experience
Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Good typing/data entry skills
Excellent Knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word
