About The Position

Indiana Farmers is seeking a Commercial Lines Senior Assistant Underwriter to join their Underwriting team in Indianapolis, IN. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely handling of complex underwriting transactions and supporting the evaluation and servicing of commercial risks. The successful candidate will apply underwriting guidelines, exercise delegated authority, and support risk selection and pricing decisions. This position also contributes to underwriting quality, workflow efficiency, timeliness, and strong agency relationships by providing technical guidance and support to underwriters and assistant underwriters. The Senior Assistant Underwriter will deliver informed, responsive service to agents and insureds.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Five or more years commercial underwriting support experience
  • Experience handling complex commercial accounts, including endorsements, renewals, and policy transactions
  • Knowledge of underwriting principles, policy processing, and coverage structures
  • Experience supporting underwriting transactions, including new business, endorsements, and renewals

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Experience providing guidance or training to less experienced staff preferred
