About The Position

We’re seeking a seasoned Commercial/Light Industrial Superintendent to play a pivotal role in our onsite municipal office space construction projects. This leadership position is responsible for managing the planning, maintenance, and oversight of city office spaces within a wastewater treatment facility, ensuring every phase meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance. With deep field experience and a thorough understanding of commercial construction, materials, and installation practices, you’ll guide teams through technical challenges, support field execution, and uphold project specifications. Occasionally working hands-on alongside crews, you’ll foster a culture of accountability and excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training is a plus
  • Minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in commercial construction, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Outlook and software used for documentation and drawing updates
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively, communicate clearly, and solve problems efficiently
  • Strong personal integrity and a solid work ethic are essential
  • Physically capable of working in outdoor environments, lifting materials, and operating in confined or elevated spaces
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all HVAC, facilities maintenance, electrical and plumbing work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
  • Daily subcontractor, vendor and client management.
  • Work crew checks: how many people are on site, assigned tasks, identifying upcoming project tasks and their cause-effect relationship for our client, QA/QC.
  • Lead daily safety briefings and weekly toolbox talks, PTP's, hot work permits, confined space work plans.
  • Report and document incidents within 24 hours
  • Maintain and inspect safety equipment to ensure compliance
  • Attend supervisor meetings and training sessions
  • Align crew activities with project schedules
  • Develop and communicate 5-week work plans
  • Track labor, equipment, and material costs
  • Coordinate with owners, engineers, and municipal departments
  • Ability to develop work plans in lockstep with our client and communicate work requirements effectively (how long office spaces will be closed for, parking changes or closures, material staging).
  • Enforce site safety for employees, subcontractors, and visitors
  • Help prepare notes for weekly JOC meetings.
  • Review and update drawings based on field conditions
  • Ensure quality work and manage as-built documentation
  • Oversee equipment inspections and operator reports
  • Manage small procurements, maintain accurate documentation, and coordinate effectively with trades and project management.
  • Strong customer service skills.
