The Commercial Lending Officer is responsible for originating, underwriting, closing, and servicing commercial loans. This role requires the development and cultivation of long-term customer relationships while managing risk by ensuring compliance with lending policies, corporate policies, and governmental laws and regulations. The officer will be accountable for maintaining existing customer accounts and developing new business opportunities. Demonstrating appropriate sales behaviors is essential to succeed in this position. In this role, the officer will engage in loan origination by providing applicants with information regarding bank policies and ensuring compliance with all rules and regulations. They will gather sufficient verifiable information to make informed approval or denial decisions. The officer will also be involved in loan underwriting, reviewing applications and documentation to analyze financial data and evaluate collateral adequacy, ultimately determining the appropriate loan structure. The closing process will involve carrying out all transactions from commitment to signing and consummation, ensuring compliance with all laws and regulations, and securing any pledged collateral. The officer will monitor bank procedures to ensure proper attachment and perfection of collateral as required under bank policy. Additionally, they will represent the organization with customers and the financial community to maintain a positive corporate image for First Financial Bank. Cross-selling additional banking products when appropriate and assisting customers in making informed buying decisions are also key responsibilities. The officer will develop and maintain a loan portfolio referral system for qualified customers and expand customer call plans for both assigned and prospective clients. They will review business trends and advise clients on expected fluctuations and economic changes, conduct sales presentations, and maintain active and up-to-date customer files for assigned clients and prospects. Other related duties may be assigned as necessary.
