About The Position

The Commercial Lending Assistant provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and loan support to one or more Business Development Officers (Lenders). This role supports throughout the life of a loan from initial intake and underwriting support through closing, booking, servicing, and portfolio management. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable coordinating across multiple departments.

Requirements

  • Qualified candidates should have 3-5 years’ experience of commercial lending documentation experience.
  • Knowledge of commercial lending, loan closings, and the loan booking process.
  • Familiarity with the loan documentation systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written business communication skills.
  • Strong customer service and relationship-management skills.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient computer and typing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary liaison between the Lender, Credit Department, Loan Processing, and Loan Servicing teams to support loans from intake through closing, booking, and servicing.
  • Provide comprehensive administrative and operational support to one or more Business Development Officers, including pipeline management, prioritization, and issue resolution.
  • Handle daily client communications, coordinating requests and gathering required documentation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with new loan requests by completing intake steps on the Bank’s lending platform and preparing loan write-ups and supporting documentation for Loan Committee review.
  • Attend Internal and Director’s Loan Committee meetings as required and support follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate third-party services such as appraisals and title work and review related documentation for accuracy.
  • Work closely with Loan Processing to ensure all underwriting and closing conditions are met; review loan documents pre- and post-closing to confirm accuracy and proper execution.
  • Assist Lenders in gathering required information to move loans to closing, including insurance, payoffs, and other supporting documentation, and provide regular status updates.
  • Support ongoing portfolio management by monitoring renewals, annual reviews, maturities, insurance expirations, financial ticklers, and construction draw requests, including follow-up with borrowers as needed.
  • Manage construction, draw documentation, and submit complete and accurate packages for payment.
  • Provide loan, pipeline, and status updates to management during weekly meetings when the Lender is unavailable.
  • Support SBA loan processing and perform additional loan administration duties as assigned.
