About The Position

Commercial Lender (Bowling Green) Abound Credit Union believes in accomplishing great things for members through our team member-first culture and experienced-focused and results-driven approach. The Commercial Lender works to develop and promote the Credit Unions commercial loan and account relationships in the markets that Abound serves. This includes providing detailed knowledge of local and regional markets and working closely with the Director, Commercial Lending and Chief Lending Officer to ensure the development of product and pricing strategies that will maximize department performance success. They should actively work with other credit union leaders and team members to promote Abound products and culture. Healthy workplace culture is critical to the success of the organization. The Commercial Lender leads, promotes, and contributes to our culture by living Abounds brand through our core values. These responsibilities are done within all Credit Union policies and procedures as well as all applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices. Position will require travel between branches, business and contacts using personal vehicle. Position will require irregular hours at times to meet needs of individual members/customers/prospects.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of the commercial lending market in the communities that Abound serves.
  • Bachelors Degree in related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Managerial level experience in consumer and real estate lending.
  • Working and applicable knowledge of basic personal computer functions and software to include word, excel, and power point.
  • Understanding of the loan underwriting process and financial analysis skills needed to evaluate the loan request prior to submitting to Member Business Lending (MBL) Committee or Board of Directors.
  • Must maintain professional demeanor in all situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Ability to interact effectively with senior management and Board/committee volunteers.
  • Ability to analyze complex data, form logical conclusions, and formulate appropriate recommendations.
  • Ability to effectively communicate credit union products and services to cross-sell and train staff.

Responsibilities

  • Create Member Value - Enthusiastically promote and cross-sell credit union products and services based on member needs obtained from member interviews and/or review of members accounts. Maintains an up-to-date and comprehensive knowledge on all Credit Union products and services that are handled or promoted by the Credit Union. Provides detailed and specific information to members regarding Credit Union products and services. In addition to generating sales, responsible for expanding relationships through quality member service.
  • Community Presence - Develops commercial account relationships through active community engagement and superior member follow up. Strive to be leader in the business community and a known resource for information and services by attending and contributing to local/regional networking and entrepreneurial endeavors.
  • Innovation - Suggests and/or propose new commercial lending products. Works with Director of Commercial Lending to develop and implement plans for expansion of commercial lending programs through product enhancement or process improvement while keying in on member experience and keeping abreast of changes in the industry and changing trends in commercial lending.
  • Member Relationships - Responsible to develop loan leads, potential lead sources and loan applications in the Commercial Loan area in accordance with goals set forth by the Director of Commercial Lending.
  • Compliance - Collaborates with the Director of Commercial Lending to review and suggest updates to policies and procedures that help achieve commercial lending goals and objectives, ensuring adherence to law, regulations, and Board and executive guidance.
  • Strategy - Works with Director of Commercial Lending to understand and align the Commercial Loan Departments strategic plans with the credit unions corporate goals and advising Sr. Management on the local/regional competitive landscape and making recommendations to ensure current and future success of the department.
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned.
