About The Position
EXL Risk Control is seeking self-directed independent contractors to join our team as Commercial Insurance Inspectors. This role requires individuals with excellent communication skills, computer proficiency, and a strong commitment to meeting client quality and timeliness standards. As a Commercial Insurance Inspector, you will have the flexibility to work from your own home or office while servicing onsite survey and inspection assignments primarily in the Cumberland/Hagerstown, MD area, as well as other locations within approximately 100 miles of these cities. In this position, you will be responsible for scheduling on-site surveys and providing detailed risk control reports to our insurance industry clients. These reports are crucial for underwriting commercial insurance policies and may include recommendations to mitigate potential loss-producing conditions associated with the policies. You will need to effectively manage the assignments you accept, secure customer appointments within your local territory, and complete work assignments in a timely manner. Our Risk Control Inspectors play a vital role in evaluating various businesses to identify hazards and improve safety, thereby mitigating risk for our insurance company clients. The types of businesses you will survey include commercial operations such as retail stores, restaurants, hotels, apartments, construction job sites, churches, and schools. While most surveys focus on assessing businesses for Property and General Liability coverage, you will also service other commercial insurance lines, including Workers Compensation, Auto/Fleet, Products Liability, Inland Marine, and Builders Risk. For those without experience, we offer a 15-hour online certification option to help you qualify for this role, with fees negotiable based on experience and the unique aspects of selected jobs.
