About The Position

Meritum Energy is seeking an experienced Commercial & Industrial Sales Manager to lead and grow C&I sales across Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Florida. This role blends strategic planning with hands-on field leadership and is responsible for driving profitable growth through close collaboration with Sales and Operations leadership. The Commercial & Industrial Sales Manager will inherit a team of five existing C&I Sales Representatives and will be responsible for adding approximately five additional sales reps to expand coverage within existing territories. This role serves as a key partner to the Director of Sales, VP of Sales, Regional Operations Managers, and local plant leadership to ensure sales execution supports regional P&L performance, budget attainment, and margin objectives. This is a player-coach role requiring strong leadership presence, financial discipline, and consistent, boots-on-the-ground engagement.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required; college degree in business or a related field preferred
  • 3+ years of sales leadership or management experience preferred
  • 5+ years of B2B sales experience, preferably in Commercial & Industrial energy, fuels, propane, petroleum, or transportation services
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to partner effectively with Operations and P&L owners
  • Data-driven, execution-focused leadership style
  • Proven ability to lead, scale, and structure sales teams across large, multi-state territories
  • Strong consultative selling and complex deal management skills
  • Experience recruiting, onboarding, and developing sales talent
  • CRM software experience preferred
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
  • Willingness to travel regularly throughout Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Florida
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch
  • Regularly and safely lifts, carries, and handles supplies and equipment weighing at least 20 - 40 pounds
  • Must pass pre-employment screening and background check
  • Position may require working evening hours and weekends as needed

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute regional C&I sales strategy in partnership with the Director of Sales and VP of Sales
  • Collaborate closely with Regional Operations Managers and local plant leadership who oversee P&L
  • Lead, coach, and support a growing team of C&I Sales Representatives
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop additional sales reps to improve territory coverage
  • Provide field support on complex deals, pricing, negotiations, and key accounts
  • Align sales efforts with operational capacity, supply, logistics, and margin targets
  • Oversee pipeline development, forecasting, and performance tracking
  • Ensure sales discipline around CRM usage, pricing, and reporting
  • Identify new verticals and growth opportunities within the C&I segment
